A Statement by Oregon Tilth Certified Organic
Pro-Organico de Mexico
Founders of Pro-Organico believe that organic production is a viable alternative for small-scale growers who are being forced out of the market by large conglomerates. They also believe that producing organic food is ultimately a lifestyle rather than a marketing strategy. That is why in 2003, Pro-Organico decided to become certified organic with Oregon Tilth, but not before embracing organic principals for nine years prior.
To establish state-of-the-art processing and handling, in 2007, Pro-Organico installed a modern, high-tech processing and packing plant that assures freshness and safety, as well as compliance with environmentally sustainable practices. Each product is identified with tags, stickers, bar codes and/or PLU number for proper sales identification. Pro-Organic also instituted a trace-back system that includes a code on each of our boxes that indicates field, farm, date of harvest and date of pack.
