Cold-Chain Processing and Trace-Back System
To provide optimum freshness and maximum shelf life, at Pro-Orgánico
we process, pack, and refrigerate our produce within a few hours of harvesting in the field.
To establish state-of-the-art processing and handling, we installed a modern, high-tech processing and packing plant at our San Francisco farm that assures freshness and safety, as well as compliance with the environmentally sustainable practices. Products harvested at El Escape are rinsed and cooled and then brought to San Francisco for final sanitizing and packaging.
Each Product is identified with tags, stickers, bar codes, and/or PLU number for proper sales identification.
We have also instituted a trace-back system that includes a code on each of our boxes that indicates field, farm, date of harvest and date of pack.
